Tom Younger, Town Administrator, Belmont
I originally went to Boston University to become a political journalist since my interest was to become the next Bob Woodward. I became more and more interested though in the inner workings of government and eventually minored in political science and immediately upon graduation obtainied my Master Degree in Public Administration. At that point I wanted to be involved in a career that directly impacted people's lives and to resolve issues. Local government does that. One day you may be involved in a multi million dollar development project and another resolving a dispute over a fallen tree branch. Something is always different. You're not running a boutique on Newbury Street but actually a major department store, where you have various departments serving your customers where they may take part in just one or all of your services. It is an opportunity for someone in this business where it is never stagnant, always changing and is actually fun and rewarding
