Christopher Whelan, Town Manager, Concord
I received a BA in Political Science and completed a Master’s Degree in Public Administration thinking that I would work in state or federal government. I was offered a position as Assistant Town Manager in Brunswick, ME as my first professional assignment, and quickly became engrossed in the diversity of the issues local governments face. I was attracted by impact that one person can have on an organization and a community by working in local government. In town government, you can see the impact you are having every day in people’s lives.
