While in the Air Force I had the opportunity to secure a masters degree in either Public Administration or Hospital Administration. I choose the MPA from my interest in how local government worked and my hope that at the local level a person can make a difference. I was stationed in the mid-west and wanted to be back in New England. I applied for a number of jobs and was hired as the assistant in Dennis, MA.
There are no two days alike and the work is always challenging. I still think, after 37 years, that I can make a difference in peoples' lives at the local level and we do get almost immediate feedback positively or negatively on the actions we take.
