The Executive Committee consists of the officers of the Association (e.g., president, first vice president, second vice president, and secretary/treasurer), as well as four at-large active members, and the five elected district representatives to the MMA Board of Directors.
The Executive Committee has the primary responsibilities for developing a strong association program; developing and proposing the annual operating budget; authorizing the expenditure of the Association’s funds; and managing the property and business affairs of the Association.
The members of the Executive Committee are elected by the members of the Association through a nomination / election process conducted each year in the early fall. Newly elected members of the Executive Committee assume their duties at the conclusion of the business meeting held in conjunction with the MMA Annual Meeting in January, and serve until their successors are duly qualified and elected.
The president, the two vice presidents, and the five district representatives also serve as voting members on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Municipal Association, and on the Governor’s Local Government Advisory Commission.
