Range Rider Report
B. Bullock reported that he has had no calls from managers for assistants. He suggested the formation of a “Retirement Committee” that can focus on the soon to be retiring managers and the issues they will be facing and how they can continue to engage with the association. It was suggested that Bullock attend the Boot Camp to introduce himself and also a future STAM meeting. D. Nixon will communicate this to the STAM program committee.
Legal Assistance Fund
C. Valente reviewed the draft proposal that had been distributed to all members. There was much discussion whether the program should cover assistants, because this could cause a professional divide between the manager and the assistant. After discussion, the draft was adopted with minor edits. Valente will make these edits, circulate to the Legal Assistance committee, then forward to the Executive Committee for feedback.
Collins Center
There was discussion that the Collins Center is engaging in activity that is not their primary focus. F. Turkington suggested that a member who knows deputy director Steve McGoldrick should approach him for a conversation. L. Gaumond will ask Middleborough Town Manager Charlie Cristello to speak to him since they are long-time friends.
Website Proposal
F. Turkington reviewed the proposal he had distributed. He estimates that this site will be an interim step as the association works thought the strategic plan. This will allow the MMMA to keep an active web presence. His assistant will do the majority of the administrative work on the site, as Wayland uses Virtual Town Hall for their website so she is familiar with the system. All agreed that this was a good interim step and thanked Turkington for his efforts.
Mentoring Program
L. Gaumond stated that he is working on a mentoring proposal to bring before the committee and he will do so at the next meeting. He is looking at other states as models.
